We are a warm, inviting Christian community where everyone is welcome. It is the purpose and desire of the First Presbyterian Church of Hightstown to open our doors to anyone seeking love and acceptance. Inspiring worship experiences and challenging learning opportunities encourage us to serve others as well as to laugh and play together.
We believe that the Christian faith should be lived rather than memorized. We allow ourselves the freedom to ask difficult questions about God, about our world, and about how we are to live our lives to the fullest. Wherever you are along your journey through life, we will help you find encouragement and support, rest and refreshment, joy and laughter, inspiration and challenge.
What's Going On
Mission Study
Currently, the church is in search of a new pastor. A Mission Study as a part of the search process consisted of: a series of 20 Bible Studies, one for every identified group of the church; five Lenten Soup Supper Focus Groups; an After-Church Conversation of the Bible Studies; a Leaders’ Retreat, and a comprehensive survey by PerceptGroup. Bible studies highlighted the following: the Church seeks to be welcoming to all and values its role in mission; we must grow or risk losing significance for those in the congregation and in the wider community; the music tradition has been very strong and needs to be emphasized; the future of our church is through increasing the involvement of families, and our church building is a symbol of who we are in the community. Focus group discussions featured ideas for ministries of growing the church, families, Hispanic community, young adults and the elderly.
